“Our words and language shape our hopes and dreams for the future – and our dreams for the future shape how we act today.”

Developing Critical Thinking Skills for Testers (interactive tutorial)
Andrew Brown
Date: Tuesday, 7th June
Time: 09:00-17:00
Why attend?
As Andrew mentions, one of the most common thinking traps we face is that we tend to think in ways that confirm our existing beliefs, rather than challenging those beliefs.
This all day workshop will teach testers of all levels how to improve their testing by enhancing their critical thinking skills, addressing their biases and thinking traps.

How testing is Evolving in DevOps
Szilard Szell
Date: Thursday 9th June
Time: 16:30 - 17:15
Why attend?
Szilard has an extensive two decades of experience, and with that comes knowledge. He asks if it is enough to know and practice test automation, exploratory testing and many aspects of Shift Left, or are there any new aspects, concepts and techniques to be aware of? We have a feeling attendees will find out.
Shaping your own Test Brewery
Jean-Paul Varwijk
Date: Friday 10th June
Tine: 14:00-15:45
Why attend?
This title stood out to us for some reason 🍻 😛… but seriously, someone that can compare testing to a new IPA has our attention! You can read all the testing theory and/or have years of experience, but there is never a clear cut recipe to follow when practicing the art of software testing.
In this session, Jean-Paul will take you through what promises to be a memorable and unique approach to solving your testing challenges.
Community is at the heart of everything at EuroSTAR, and that means looking after everyone within it! Here's a few activities that will keep you energised throughout the week.

During the conference you will be able to find the Global App Testing team at booth number 1, talking all things software testing and showing attendees why our test execution platform should hold the number 1 spot in your heart 😉.
Book a meeting with us - those that attend the meeting will be entered into a prize draw to win an iPad air 5th generation 64gb wifi (aka the new one!).
We have a number of fun activities and surprises for you during the week, some of which include:
Here at Global App Testing, we currently have a crowd of over 60,000 highly-skilled QA professionals, testing sites and apps from around the world. Each and every one of them is on a mission to dig up those gold-plated bugs and provide valuable insights for our customers.
With the EuroSTAR Conference just around the corner, we asked our testers in Copenhagen to send us some local tips on launching an app in Copenhagen, or Denmark in general - enjoy!
Tip #1
Us Danes like getting straight to the point - some may think this is blunt but we don't like too much small talk for no reason, so our apps need to mirror this with a well-executed UI that wastes no time in getting you where you need to be!
Tip #2
As a country, I would say we are very early adopters when it comes to embracing new tech. So, if you want to test or even launch an innovative forward-thinking app, this is a good place to start your venture (with a decent pool of talent to choose from to help you succeed)!
Danish Phrasebook
A staggering 86% of locals speak English as their second language (thanks Google). That being said, here are a few key phrases should you wish to (try and) impress a local anyway!
One beer, please | En øl tak |
Two beers, please | To øl tak |
Ten beers, please | Ti øl tak |
My name is | Mit navn er… / Jeg hedder… |
How are you? | Hvordan har du det? |
Do you speak English? | Taler du engelsk? |
I don't speak Danish | Jeg taler ikke dansk |
I don’t understand | Jeg forstår ikke |
Thank you | Tak skal du have |
Hi / Bye | Hej / farvel |
Yes / No | Ja / nej |
Excuse me | Undskyld mig |
How much does it cost? | Hvor meget koster det? |
Where is ...? | Hvor er…? |
The bill, please | Regningen, tak |
Have you seen any bugs? | Har du set nogen fejl? |
Now that you’re fluent, it’s time to explore the city. We know you’ll probably dedicate most of your time to exploring EuroSTAR’s extensive list of workshops and exhibitors, but here’s a few things we recommend if you have some free time in Copenhagen:
Nyhavn is the area you likely picture when you think of Copenhagen - or when you conduct an image search for the city. Originally a commercial hotspot back when Denmark made most of its money from herring fishing, it’s now known for great restaurants, the canal and jazz music.
We know we will be hanging out here at some point during the week – so make sure you leave some time before or after the conference to go and check it out.
If having a pint is one of your favourite ways to relax, then you’ll definitely enjoy Copenhagen’s craft beer scene. The pubs or “værtshuse”, as they are known in Danish, are the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a beer (or two!).
Our testers recommend BRUS, a brewery that is constantly experimenting with new beer flavours and soft drinks to surprise and please beer geeks and any other guests. With 30+ craft beer and kegged cocktails on tap, you are guaranteed to try something new.
If you are more of a foodie, you can sit in the restaurant instead which is operated by the talented Christian Gadient - Denmark's youngest Michelin chef.
Claiming the spot as the world's third oldest amusement park, Tivoli Gardens is a popular place to hangout with beautiful gardens, dozens of rides and places to eat and drink. Conveniently located in the heart of the city centre (near central station) it is easily one of the best places to visit in the city.
During the summer months it is open until 11pm Sunday - Thursday and midnight over Fridays and Saturdays - so there's nothing stopping you from finding time to visit during EuroSTAR week.
Be sure to have a go on their oldest and most popular ride – the wooden rollercoaster, one of only seven rollercoasters in the world that has a brakeman on every train.
You still have time to get your ticket using our 10% off discount code GAPES10.
However, if you can’t make it, don't despair - you can still join our activities online and follow the event Live on our social channels (Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter). You can also join our polls and look for opportunities to win some cool merch, prizes and offers!
